A universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity. In 2015, all United Nations Member States adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which represent an urgent call for action by all countriesdeveloped and developingin a global partnership. They recognize that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth, all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests. The SDGs are unique because they cover issues that affect us all. They reaffirm that international cooperation is essential to solving complex global challenges. By setting these specific targets, the UN provides a roadmap for governments, businesses, and civil society to track progress and hold stakeholders accountable. Achieving these goals requires the participation of everyone. From local governments implementing sustainable urban planning to individuals making conscious choices about their consumption habits, every action contributes to the broader objective of leaving no one behind. The 2030 Agenda: Sustainable Development Goals
