MA Hindi Language & Literature University of Kerala

1. Programme Structure

The MA in Hindi is a twoyear (foursemester) programme. Each semester carries 25credits, making a total of 100credits for the degree. The curriculum is divided into:

• Core Courses mandatory for all students.
• Elective Courses students choose from a list of specialised subjects.
• Project/Dissertation a researchoriented work submitted in the final semester.

Each elective carries 4credits and is assessed through internal assignments, termend examinations and a presentation component.

4. Assessment & Grading

Assessment follows the University of Keralas standardized scheme:

• Internal Evaluation (IA) 20% (assignments, presentations, quizzes).
• EndSemester Examinations (ESE) 80% (written papers).
• For the dissertation, IA is 30% (proposal & literature review) and the final submission & vivavoce is 70%.

Grades are awarded on a 10point scale (O, A+, A, B+, B, C, F) as per university regulations.

5. Admission Requirements

• Graduate degree (B.A.) in Hindi or any other language with minimum 45% aggregate.
• Qualifying National Eligibility Test (NET) in Hindi is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Submission of Statement of Purpose, academic transcripts and two letters of recommendation.
