Welcome to the Urdu Level 1 course. Urdu is a beautiful, poetic, and historically rich language spoken by millions across South Asia and the global diaspora. This foundational course is designed for absolute beginners who wish to develop basic communication skills and gain an understanding of the linguistic structure of Urdu. By the end of this course, students will be able to handle simple everyday conversations, understand basic grammatical structures, and begin the journey of reading and writing the Nastaliq script. The Level 1 curriculum is divided into four main modules, each building upon the previous one to ensure a smooth learning curve: We begin by learning the sounds of Urdu. Unlike English, Urdu is written from right to left. We focus on the phonetic consistency of the script and practice handwriting techniques to ensure legibility. Here, you will learn to speak. We cover polite greetings (Adaab), how to ask someone "how are you," and how to introduce yourself and your family to others. In this phase, we move beyond individual words. You will learn the Subject-Object-Verb (SOV) order that defines Urdu sentence structure and explore the use of basic pronouns and postpositions. The final module focuses on putting it all together. Students will participate in simulated role-play scenarios, such as ordering food in a restaurant or interacting at a market. Learning Urdu provides a unique window into a culture renowned for its literary depth. Whether you are interested in South Asian cinema, classical poetry, or simply wish to connect with heritage or friends, this course provides the essential building blocks. Our approach emphasizes practical usage over rote memorization, ensuring that you leave the course with the confidence to start speaking from day one.Urdu Level 1: Your Gateway to the Language
