UPPCL Assistant Engineer Syllabus 2021

Overview

The Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) conducts a competitive examination each year to recruit Assistant Engineers (AEs) for its various departments Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, and Information Technology. The 2021 syllabus is the benchmark for all aspirants preparing for the written test. Understanding the syllabus in detail, along with the exam pattern, helps candidates create a focused study plan and avoid wasting time on irrelevant topics.

The selection process generally consists of:

• Written Examination two papers (PaperI General Studies & English, PaperII Technical)
• Interview / Personality Test (for those who clear the written stage)

Both papers are objective type (multiplechoice) and are conducted offline (penandpaper). The total duration is 2 hours per paper.

General Instructions for the Syllabus

• Only topics mentioned in the official syllabus are required. Extracurricular material may be useful for conceptual clarity but is not mandatory.
• The syllabus is divided into two sections; each has its own weightage:
  • PaperI 100 marks
  • PaperII 100 marks
• Negative marking is applicable: 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.
• Use NCERT textbooks (Class 1012) as the primary reference for basic concepts, especially for Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

PaperI General Studies & English (100 Marks)

The General Studies section tests a candidates awareness of current affairs, Indian polity, history, geography, economics, and basic science. Below is the detailed breakdown.

This part evaluates proficiency in reading comprehension, grammar, and vocabulary.

• Error Detection, Fill in the Blanks, Antonyms/ Synonyms 10 questions

• OneWord Substitution 5 questions

PaperII Technical (100 Marks)
