TSPSC Group 3 Syllabus Complete Guide

Introduction

The Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) conducts the Group3 examination to recruit candidates for a variety of subordinate officer and executive posts in the state administration. The syllabus is designed to test a candidates knowledge of general subjects, analytical ability and subjectspecific expertise. Understanding the syllabus in detail helps aspirants plan a focused study schedule and avoid unnecessary topics.

Exam Structure

The TSPSC Group3 exam consists of three papers, each carrying 100 marks. All papers are objective type with multiplechoice questions. The total duration of each paper is 2hours.

PaperI: General Studies

This paper measures a candidates awareness of current affairs, history, geography, economics, Indian polity, science & technology, and environmental issues. The syllabus is divided into the following subdomains:

  • History & Culture Ancient, Medieval and Modern Indian history, Telangana and Indian heritage, art & architecture.
  • Geography Physical geography, Indian and world map, climate, resources, and environmental concerns.
  • Polity & Governance Constitution, fundamental rights, duties, institutions, Union and State government, local bodies.
  • Economics Indian economy, budgeting, fiscal policy, banking, agriculture, industry, and employment.

PaperII: Aptitude & Reasoning

This paper evaluates logical thinking, quantitative ability, and data interpretation. Key topics include:

  • Verbal and nonverbal reasoning (analogy, series, classification, codingdecoding)
  • Quantitative aptitude (percentage, profitloss, ratio, proportion, time&work, time&distance)
  • Data interpretation (tables, bar graphs, line charts, pie charts, caselets)
  • Logical puzzles (seating arrangement, blood group, syllogism, statementconclusion)
  • Simple algebra and geometry basics

PaperIII: Optional Subject

Candidates can choose one optional subject from the list approved by TSPSC. The most popular options are:

  1. Analyse the Syllabus Break down each paper into subtopics and allocate time based on weightage.
  2. Create a Timetable Reserve 23hours daily; dedicate specific days for General Studies, Reasoning, and the optional subject.
  3. Use Standard Books NCERT (Class1112) for History, Geography, Polity, and Economics; reference books like Laxmikanth, Indian Economy by Ramesh Singh, and specific optional subject texts.
