University Curriculum

Syllabus for B.A. / B.Sc. Semester I-VI Session 2018-19
Note: This syllabus structure is applicable for the undergraduate programs for the session 2018-19 onwards. The curriculum follows the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) guidelines.

Scheme of Examination

The assessment pattern for the B.A./B.Sc. programs shall consist of Internal Assessment and End Semester Examination. The distribution of marks is generally as follows:

  • Internal Assessment: 25 Marks
  • End Semester Examination: 75 Marks
  • Total: 100 Marks

Course Details - Core Components (Sample)

Note: The specific content of the Core papers varies by major discipline (Science, Arts, etc.). The following is a general outline applicable to the framework.

Ability Enhancement Compulsory Courses (AECC)

  • Environmental Science: Understanding ecosystems, biodiversity, pollution, and social issues related to the environment.
  • English Communication: Grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and formal writing skills.

Skill Enhancement Courses (SEC)

  • Communication Skills: Soft skills, presentation techniques, and interview preparation.
  • Technical Writing: Report drafting, documentation, and project proposals.
  • Analytical Skills: Logic building, data interpretation, and quantitative reasoning.

Generic Electives (GE)

These courses are designed to provide multidisciplinary exposure. Students from major A can choose a course from Major B as their Generic Elective, provided the schedule permits.

Internal Assessment Guidelines

Internal assessment is a continuous process intended to monitor the student's progress. It typically includes:

  1. Class Test / Assignment
  2. Attendance and Participation
  3. Presentation / Seminar
  4. Mid-Semester Examination

End Semester Examination

The End Semester Examination is conducted by the University at the end of each semester. The duration of the examination is generally 3 hours per paper. The question paper is designed to test the conceptual understanding and application of the subject matter.
