Summer Vacation Homework Guidelines: 2021-22

Note: This assignment covers the academic period of 2021-22. All students are expected to complete these tasks during the summer break to reinforce concepts learned during the first term.

Objective

The primary goal of the 2021-22 summer vacation homework is to encourage self-directed learning, creativity, and the practical application of theoretical concepts. We believe that summer should be a time for rest, but also a time to explore interests beyond the traditional classroom setting.

General Instructions

  • All work must be handwritten on A4-sized sheets or in the designated project file.
  • Projects should be neatly organized and clearly labeled with the students name, grade, and section.
  • Creativity is highly encouraged; use diagrams, sketches, and flowcharts where appropriate.
  • Plagiarism of any form will result in a deduction of marks. Please ensure that all research is synthesized in your own words.
  • Completed work must be submitted to the respective subject teachers on the first day of school following the summer break.

Subject-Specific Tasks

Mathematics

Students are required to create a "Math in Daily Life" journal. Document at least five instances where mathematical concepts (such as geometry, percentages, or basic algebra) were used during your vacation. This could include shopping lists, travel time calculations, or cooking measurements.

Science

Conduct a simple home-based experiment regarding the conservation of resources. Observe your household's water or electricity usage over a period of seven days and suggest three actionable ways to reduce consumption based on your findings. Present your data in a clear bar graph.

English and Literature

Read any two books from the recommended reading list provided during the final week of school. Write a 500-word critical analysis of your favorite character from each book. Discuss their motivations, flaws, and the impact they had on the plot.

Social Studies

Create a scrapbook highlighting a historical monument or a geographical feature in your home state. Include historical background, current status, and an essay on why preserving these landmarks is vital for future generations.

Assessment Criteria

The homework will be graded based on the following metrics:

  • Originality: 25%
  • Accuracy of Content: 25%
  • Presentation and Neatness: 25%
  • Depth of Research: 25%

Concluding Thoughts

We encourage you to balance your academic responsibilities with physical activities, hobbies, and family time. Use this period to recharge your energy and return to school with a fresh, inquisitive perspective. We look forward to seeing your innovative projects in the upcoming term.
