RL19/APR II Question Booklet Instructions

Administrative Office Examination Board

Welcome to the RL19/APR II examination. This comprehensive assessment measures competency across multiple domains relevant to your field of study. Please read the following instructions carefully before proceeding with the examination.

General Instructions

  • This question booklet consists of 8 sections containing 120 questions in total.
  • Verify that the question booklet code printed on the cover matches RL19/APR II.
  • Candidates must fill in their examination number, name, and signature on the designated spaces on the first page before proceeding.
  • Absolutely no additional paper or materials are permitted for note-taking or rough work.
  • All answers must be recorded directly in the spaces provided within the booklet.
  • Do not fold, tear, or deface the question booklet in any manner.
  • Use only blue or black ink for written responses. Pencil is strictly prohibited except for marking on diagram pages where specifically indicated.
  • Ensure all personal belongings are stored away as directed by the invigilator once the examination begins.

Time Management

  • The total allocated time for this examination is 3 hours and 15 minutes, including 15 minutes of reading time at the beginning.
  • Reading time is for review only. No writing is permitted during this period.
  • Questions carry varying marks as indicated in brackets at the end of each question.
  • Plan your time strategy carefully, allocating approximately 1.5 minutes per mark on average.
  • Detailed scoring breakdowns for each section are provided in the examination guidelines at the front of the booklet.
  • If unable to complete a question, proceed to the next and return if time permits, as per recommendations from previous examination cycles.

Important Administrative Notes

  • Candidates must arrive at the examination venue at least 30 minutes before the scheduled start time.
  • Late arrivals will not be admitted after 30 minutes from the examination commencement.
  • Any form of communication with other candidates is strictly prohibited at all times.
  • Mobile phones and electronic devices must be switched off and deposited with examination officials before entry.

Section-Specific Instructions

Section A: Multiple Choice Questions

  • Each question offers four possible answers, with only one correct response.
  • Indicate your answer by marking the corresponding circle with a cross (X) using pen.
  • Each correct answer carries 1 mark. No penalty applies for incorrect answers.
  • Changes to answers must be made by crossing out the original selection completely and marking the new choice.

Section B: Short Answer Questions

  • Consists of 20 short-answer questions requiring concise responses.
  • Provide direct answers in the allocated spaces only, without unnecessary elaboration.
  • Each question carries 2 marks, with partial credit awarded for partially correct answers.
  • Ensure your handwriting is clear and legible. Illegible text may receive zero marks.
  • Bullet points or numbered lists may be used where appropriate to structure your response.

Section C: Practical Application Scenarios

  • Contains 5 comprehensive scenarios based on real-world applications.
  • Each scenario requires multiple responses with varying mark allocations.
  • Provide complete solutions showing all reasoning steps where calculations are involved.
  • Refer to the provided data tables and reference materials appropriately when answering.
  • Diagrams may be used to supplement written explanations but must be accompanied by text.

Section D: Case Study Analysis

  • One extensive case study requiring integrated knowledge and analytical skills.
  • Multiple sub-questions requiring analysis of the presented situation (15 marks total).
  • Ensure answers are specific and directly address the case details provided.
  • Cite evidence from the case to support your arguments where appropriate.

Section E: Technical Drawing and Visualization

  • Includes 5 questions requiring interpretation and creation of technical diagrams.
  • Use the provided grid paper for solutions.
  • Use pencil for the drawings only, and ink for any accompanying explanations.
  • Ensure all labels and annotations are clear and positioned correctly.
  • Approximate measurements are acceptable unless precision is explicitly required.

Section F: Data Interpretation

  • Contains 3 complex data sets with multiple related questions.
  • Questions may require calculation, extrapolation, and interpretation of presented data.
  • Show all calculations clearly to earn method marks even if final answers are incorrect.
  • Reference the appropriate data tables/graphs in your response for clarity.
  • Round numerical answers as specified in each individual question.

Section G: Extended Response Questions

  • Three essay-style questions requiring comprehensive answers.
  • Select 2 out of 3 questions to answer. Do not answer all three.
  • Each answer should be well-structured with clear logical progression.
  • Theoretical concepts must be connected to practical applications where possible.
  • Evaluate multiple perspectives rather than simply describing one viewpoint.
  • Each answer is worth 15 marks. Ensure they are of comparable length and depth.

Section H: Professional Scenario Response

  • One extended scenario requiring a professional response incorporating ethics, regulations, and best practices.
  • Demonstrate understanding of relevant professional standards and statutory requirements.
  • Address all aspects of the scenario as presented in the multi-part question.
  • Maintain professional tone in your response throughout.
  • Ensure your recommended actions are specific, realistic, and justified.
  • This question carries 20 marks and should be given appropriate time consideration.

Instrumentation and Reference Materials

  • Approved non-programmable scientific calculators are permitted in this examination.
  • Clear your calculator memory before the examination begins as requested by invigilators.
  • Invigilators may check your calculator at any time during the examination.
  • Graphing calculators, calculators with text storage, and smartphone calculator apps are strictly prohibited.
  • The standard formula booklet, relevant codes tables, and conversion tables are provided and remain examination property.
  • Drawing instruments such as protractors, compasses, scales, and set squares may be used.
  • No additional materials, including personal notes or reference materials, are allowed.

Examination Conduct and Protocols

  • Maintain complete silence throughout the examination unless communicating with an invigilator.
  • Raise your hand immediately if you require assistance from an invigilator.
  • Remain seated at all times unless given permission by an invigilator to leave the room.
  • Unauthorised communication with other candidates constitutes examination misconduct.
  • If you need to leave the room temporarily, you must be accompanied by an invigilator.
  • Fresh drinking water is provided in examination rooms, but no other food or beverages are allowed.
  • The examination is monitored according to standard assessment procedures.
  • Any form of cheating or attempted cheating will result in immediate disqualification.

Special Accommodations

  • Candidates with approved special accommodations should verify they have received appropriate arrangements.
  • Report any issues with accommodation provisions to the invigilator immediately.
  • Additional time allowances have been pre-approved and recorded in the examination system.
  • Modified question booklets (large print, coloured paper, etc.) will be provided as per individual arrangements.
  • Separate examination rooms may be arranged for specific accommodation needs.

Final Submission Procedures

  • You will receive a 5-minute warning before the examination concludes.
  • Stop writing immediately when instructed to do so. Any continued writing after this instruction may result in cancellation of your paper.
  • Ensure your name, examination number, and signature appear on the designated spaces of all materials.
  • Arrange all materials in the order specified by the invigilator before submission.
  • Wait at your desk until all materials have been collected and you are formally dismissed.
  • Do not remove any examination materials from the examination venue under any circumstances.
  • Exit the examination venue quietly without discussion of the exam content with other candidates.
