About the Post
SubInspectors are the backbone of the Delhi Police, handling investigations, supervision of police stations, and maintaining laworder. The rank is equivalent to a senior police officer and offers a clear career progression up to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP).
Eligibility
- Nationality: Indian
- Age: 2128 years (relaxation up to 3 years for SC/ST, OBC, ExServicemen, etc.)
- Educational Qualification: Minimum 3year degree from a recognized university (any discipline)
- Physical Standards: Height 165 cm (male) / 160 cm (female); Chest 84 cm (+5 cm after expansion) for males; Vision 6/6 unaided (both eyes)
- No criminal record and must be a permanent resident of Delhi (or eligible under the outside Delhi quota).
Selection Process
- Written Exam Objective type (General Ability, English, Reasoning, Numerical Ability, General Knowledge & Current Affairs). 150 marks.
- Physical Standard Test (PST) Physical fitness, endurance & agility.
- Physical Efficiency Test (PET) 100meter dash, long jump, high jump, and 800meter run (female) / 1500meter run (male).
- Medical Examination Comprehensive health check.
- Document Verification Original certificates and experience letters (if any).
- Interview Conducted for shortlisted candidates.

2. SubInspector Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs)
About the CAPFs
The CAPFs include BSF, CRPF, ITBP, CISF (SI posts), and SSB (now under CAPFs). They are responsible for border security, internal security, disaster management, and protection of vital installations.
Eligibility
- Nationality: Indian
- Age: 2027 years (relaxations as per government rules)
- Education: Graduate from a recognized university (any stream)
- Physical Standards (Male): Height 168 cm, Chest 84 cm (+5 cm after expansion); Female: Height 158 cm, Chest 77 cm.
- Vision: 6/6 unaided, both eyes (with or without spectacles).
- No disqualifying criminal record.
Selection Process
- Written Examination Conducted by UPSC: General Ability, General Science, Mathematics, Indian Polity & Governance, and Current Affairs (200 marks).
- Physical Standard Test Height, Chest, Vision, Weight.
- Physical Efficiency Test 100meter dash, 800meter run (female) / 1500meter run (male), long jump, high jump.
- Medical Examination.

About the Post
Assistant SubInspectors (ASI) in CISF work under the supervision of SubInspectors, handling security at airports, nuclear installations, metro stations, and other critical infrastructure.

- Nationality: Indian
- Age: 2027 years (relaxations applicable)
