Rashtriya Military School Common Entrance Test (RMS CET)

Overview

The Rashtriya Military Schools Common Entrance Test (RMS CET) is the gateway for admission to the ten Rashtriya Military Schools (RMS) located across India. These schools, managed by the Indian Ministry of Defence, provide quality education from Class 6 to 12 and prepare students for a career in the Indian Armed Forces. The RMS CET is conducted annually and selects candidates based on merit.

Eligibility Criteria

Class 11 1418 years Passed Class 10 with minimum 60% (or equivalent). Must have qualified the AISSE/CBSE/ICSE board exams.

Only Indian citizens are eligible. Candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes are eligible for the same number of seats as general category.

Exam Pattern

The RMS CET is a penandpaper test conducted in multiple centers across the country. The exam is divided into three sections, each carrying equal weightage.

  • Mathematics 60 marks
  • English Language 60 marks
  • General Knowledge & Reasoning 60 marks

Each section consists of 60 multiplechoice questions (MCQs). The total duration of the test is 180 minutes (3 hours), with 60 minutes allocated to each section.

Marking scheme:

  • Correct answer: +1 mark
  • Wrong answer: 0.25 mark
  • Unanswered: 0 mark

There is no sectional cutoff; admission is based on the aggregate score.

Application Process

  1. Online Registration: Visit the official RMS website and click on RMS CET 202X. Create a new account using a valid email and mobile number.
  2. Fill Application Form: Enter personal details, educational qualifications, and choice of schools (up to 3 preferences).
  3. Upload Documents: Provide scanned copies of the following:
    • Passportsize photograph (recent, white background)
    • Signature
    • Class 5/7/10 mark sheet (as applicable)
    • Birth certificate
  4. Pay Application Fee: INR 500 (Class 6/8) or INR 700 (Class 11) through net banking, credit/debit card, or UPI.
  5. Submit & Confirmation: After payment, submit the form. A confirmation email with an Application ID will be sent.
  6. Print Admit Card: Login with the Application ID a few days before the exam date to download the admit card.
