  1. Phased Investigations: For large projects, procure a preliminary desk study or a small-scale initial investigation before committing to a full, large-scale drilling program.
  2. Provisional Sums: Include provisional sums in the contract for unforeseen activities, such as standby time, standby for instrumentation, or additional testing in anomalous soil layers.
