History
Established in 1998, Nirmala Niketan College of Home Science (NNCHS) has grown from a modest institute into a recognized centre of excellence for home science education in the region. Founded by the charitable trust of the Nirmala Society, the college was created with the aim of empowering women through scientific knowledge and practical skills related to nutrition, family welfare, and community development. The first batch comprised only twentyseven students, but over the past two decades the college has expanded its infrastructure, faculty strength, and academic offerings.
The colleges early years were marked by collaborations with the University of Calcutta, which provided academic guidance and helped shape a curriculum that blended traditional home science with emerging research trends. In 2005, NNCHS received accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with a B++ grade, a testament to its commitment to quality education.
