The Middle Tennessee State University Nutrition and Food Science Program offers comprehensive Dual Nutrition Classes designed to provide students with a competitive edge in the growing field of nutrition science. Our dual enrollment program allows undergraduate students to take graduate-level courses, earning credits that count toward both their bachelor's and potential master's degrees. Established over 30 years ago, our program has successfully prepared hundreds of nutrition professionals for diverse careers in healthcare, community nutrition, food service management, research, and education. The dual nutrition classes feature innovative curriculum designed by experienced faculty who are actively engaged in nutrition research and practice. Students in our program benefit from small class sizes, hands-on learning experiences, and access to state-of-the-art facilities including our food science laboratory and metabolic kitchen. Our strong partnerships with local healthcare facilities, community organizations, and food industry partners provide students with invaluable clinical rotations and internship opportunities. Work in hospitals, outpatient clinics, and long-term care facilities providing medical nutrition therapy to patients with various conditions. Focus on public health nutrition, working with government agencies, schools, and non-profits to improve community nutrition. Apply nutrition knowledge in food product development, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and food safety roles. Establish a private nutrition practice or serve as a nutrition consultant for sports teams, corporations, or individuals. Pursue advanced degrees and careers in academia as researchers or educators at universities and research institutions. Admission to the Dual Nutrition Classes program requires meeting specific criteria that demonstrate academic excellence and a commitment to the field of nutrition. Students must: Applications for the dual program are accepted twice yearly, with deadlines on March 1st for fall admission and October 1st for spring admission. Students selected for the program will work closely with an advisor to create an individualized study plan that integrates undergraduate and graduate coursework.
