About the Program

The Master of Science in Environmental Science is designed to prepare students for professional careers in environmental science and sustainability. Our interdisciplinary program combines rigorous scientific study with practical application, enabling graduates to address pressing environmental issues facing our world today.

With a focus on both natural and social sciences, our curriculum provides students with a comprehensive understanding of environmental systems, policy, and management. Research Opportunities

Students in our program have numerous opportunities to engage in faculty-led research projects, develop independent research under faculty supervision, and present findings at regional and national conferences. We particularly encourage research in emerging areas such as climate resilience, environmental justice, green chemistry, and sustainable resource management.

Admissions Requirements

Application Materials

  • Completed online application and $75 application fee
  • Official transcripts from all previous college/university work
  • Statement of purpose (max 1000 words)
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • Resume or curriculum vitae
  • GRE scores (optional for all tracks except Environmental Chemistry)
  • For international applicants: TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo English Test scores

Deadlines

  • Fall Admission: February 15 (Priority), June 15 (Final)
  • Spring Admission: November 15
  • Summer Admission: March 15 (Limited tracks available)

Prerequisites

We welcome applicants from diverse academic backgrounds, but strongly recommend the following preparation:

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, biology, chemistry, geology, physics, or related field
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 (4.0 scale) in undergraduate coursework
  • One year of college-level chemistry with lab
  • One year of college-level biology with lab
  • One semester of calculus
  • Basic statistics course
  • Experience in fieldwork or laboratory research is beneficial
Financial Assistance

We offer teaching assistantships, research assistantships, and competitive scholarships based on academic merit. Approximately 85% of our graduate students receive some form of financial support. To be considered, please submit your application by the priority deadline. Assistantships typically provide full tuition remission plus a monthly stipend.
