Our History

19th Century: The story of Kopparberg begins in the small town of Kopparberg in Sweden. The brewery was established in 1882 by a group of local entrepreneurs who recognized the potential of the region's pure water and abundant fruit orchards.
1994: A significant turning point came when the brewery launched its first fruit cider. Unlike traditional ciders that were primarily apple-based, Kopparberg introduced pear cider, which quickly became popular in the local market.
Early 2000s: Kopparberg began expanding beyond Sweden's borders, first reaching the United Nordic markets and then finding particular success in the United Kingdom, where it developed a devoted following.
Today: Kopparberg is now available in more than 30 countries worldwide, continuing to introduce new fruit combinations while maintaining its commitment to quality and tradition.

Brewing Process

Kopparberg brewing process

The secret behind Kopparberg's exceptional taste lies in our meticulous brewing process, which combines traditional techniques with modern quality standards:

  1. Fruit Selection: We source the finest fruits from carefully selected orchards, ensuring each variety meets our strict quality criteria.
  2. Crushing & Pressing: The fruits are crushed and pressed to extract the juice, which forms the foundation of our cider.
  3. Fermentation: Natural yeast is added to the fruit juice to begin the fermentation process, converting sugars into alcohol.
  4. Maturation: The cider is allowed to mature, developing its distinctive character and flavor profile.
  5. Blending: Our master blenders carefully combine different ciders to achieve the perfect balance of sweetness and acidity.
  6. Carbonation: Carbonation is added to give Kopparberg its refreshing effervescence.
  7. Bottling: The finished cider is bottled and prepared for distribution to markets around the world.

Did you know? Kopparberg uses soft Swedish water, drawn from the pristine natural springs of the Bergslagen region, which significantly contributes to the crisp taste of our ciders.
