MAT 310 Calculus III is the third course in the calculus sequence offered at Hostos Community College. Course Description

The course begins with an introduction to three-dimensional coordinate systems and vectors. Students learn to describe lines, planes, and surfaces in three-dimensional space. The study of vector-valued functions leads into the calculus of functions of multiple variables, including limits, continuity, partial derivatives, directional derivatives, and gradients. Applications of partial derivatives to optimization problems with constraints are explored using Lagrange multipliers.

Multiple integration covers double and triple integrals in various coordinate systems, including rectangular, cylindrical, and spherical coordinates. These techniques are applied to calculate volumes, masses, centers of mass, and moments of inertia. The course concludes with vector calculus, including line integrals, surface integrals, Green's Theorem, Stokes' Theorem, and the Divergence Theorem.
