The Flying Pig Youth Program provides transformative experiences that help young people develop essential life skills, build confidence, and reach their full potential.Empowering Tomorrow's Leaders Today
The Flying Pig Youth Program is a comprehensive youth development initiative designed for children and teenagers aged 6-18. Founded in 2008, our program has grown from a small community project to a nationally recognized organization serving over 5,000 young people annually across 15 locations.
Our unique name was inspired by the phrase "when pigs fly," representing our belief in the impossible becoming possible. We empower young people to achieve their dreams, no matter how big or unlikely they may seem. Our programs emphasize creativity, resilience, problem-solving, and community service.
Our structured goal-setting workshops help participants identify their aspirations and create actionable plans to achieve them, developing important planning and follow-through skills.
We provide tutoring, homework help, and study skill development to support academic success and foster a love for learning.
Through arts, music, drama, and writing programs, participants explore their creativity and find new ways to express themselves.
From team sports to individual fitness pursuits, we promote healthy habits, teamwork, and physical wellness.
Every participant is paired with a trained mentor who provides guidance, encouragement, and a positive role model.
Designed specifically for older participants, our leadership track helps teens develop critical thinking, decision-making, and communication skills.
Seasonal camping trips, hiking excursions, and nature education programs build resilience and environmental awareness. These experiences push participants outside their comfort zones in a supportive environment.
Interactive sessions in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics foster critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Our hands-on approach makes complex concepts accessible and exciting.
Participants engage in meaningful service projects designed to address local needs while developing empathy and civic responsibility. Past projects include community gardens, food drives, and neighborhood cleanups.
Our arts programs include visual arts, performance, music appreciation, and cultural celebrations that broaden horizons and encourage self-expression through creative mediums.
Teens participate in workshops, site visits, and job shadowing opportunities that expose them to various career paths and help them envision their future professional possibilities.
Our specialized curriculum teaches communication skills, emotional intelligence, and conflict resolution techniques that participants use throughout their lives.
Since 2008, the Flying Pig Youth Program has made a measurable difference in the lives of thousands of young people and their communities. Our approach combines evidence-based practices with innovative programming tailored to meet the evolving needs of today's youth.
Independent evaluations have shown that participants in our program demonstrate improved academic performance, higher graduation rates, increased self-confidence, and stronger community connections compared to their peers. Many program alumni have gone on to become successful professionals, community leaders, and even program mentors themselves.
"Before joining Flying Pig, I was shy and didn't believe in myself. The mentors helped me discover my talent for speaking and organizing. Now I'm studying public policy and running for student government. This program literally changed my life's trajectory."
"As a parent, I've seen my son transform from a withdrawn child to a confident leader. The Flying Pig program gave him a safe space to explore, make mistakes, learn, and grow. The staff's dedication to each child's success is remarkable."
"The Flying Pig program helped me see that there's no limit to what I can achieve. Their emphasis on perseverance and problem-solving helped me overcome academic challenges and now I'm the first in my family to attend college."
"I was a Flying Pig kid at age 10. Now, I volunteer as a mentor. The support I received changed my life, and I want to give that same opportunity to today's young people. It's inspiring to see the cycle continue."
The Flying Pig Youth Program thrives through community support. There are many ways to join our mission of empowering the next generation of leaders.
