Steam Pressure and Temperature: If the pressure is too high, the temperature increases, which may result in the hydrolysis of certain esters or the burning of the plant material, leading to an "off" scent profile.

Distillation Time: Extended distillation ensures the recovery of heavier molecules, but excessive time may cause the oil to undergo chemical changes or incorporate unwanted, less desirable compounds.
