Red Cross Canada Emergency Assistance

What We Do

The Canadian Red Cross is a humanitarian organization that provides immediate relief and longterm recovery support when disasters strike. From wildfires in British Columbia to floods in Quebec, the RedCross mobilises volunteers, staff, and resources to help Canadians rebuild lives and restore communities.

Red Cross volunteers assisting families

Our core mission is to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies. We work closely with local authorities, Indigenous partners, and community groups to ensure that help reaches those who need it most, as quickly and safely as possible.

Key Emergency Services

  • Disaster Response Teams: Rapiddeployed crews that provide shelter, food, clean water, and first aid.
  • Emergency Shelters & Housing: Safe spaces for families displaced by fires, storms, or floods.
  • Health & First Aid: Mobile clinics, vaccination drives, mentalhealth counselling, and trauma support.
  • Family Tracing & Reunification: Helping locate missing family members and reconnect loved ones.
  • Volunteer Mobilisation: Training and coordinating thousands of volunteers to respond within hours.
  • Community Resilience Programs: Preparedness workshops, emergency kits, and riskreduction education.

Did you know? In the 2023 wildfire season, Red Cross Canada assisted over 25,000 individuals and delivered more than 2 million meals.
