EFT Tapping Points Chart
Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), commonly known as EFT Tapping, is a powerful healing method that combines elements of traditional Chinese medicine with modern psychology. By tapping on specific meridian points while focusing on emotional or physical issues, EFT aims to restore balance to the body's energy system.
The Main EFT Tapping Points
1
Karate Chop Point (KC)
On the side of the hand, between the wrist and the base of the pinky finger
Used for the setup statement and often for additional rounds of tapping. This point represents the small intestine meridian.
2
Top of Head (TOH)
Center of the crown of the head
Some practitioners include this as a starting point. It represents the governing vessel meridian.
3
Eyebrow (EB)
Inner eyebrow point, just above and to the side of the nose
This point corresponds to the bladder meridian.
4
Side of Eye (SE)
On the bone at the outer corner of the eye
This point corresponds to the gallbladder meridian.
5
Under Eye (UE)
Under the eye on the bone
This point corresponds to the stomach meridian.
6
Under Nose (UN)
Between the nose and upper lip
This point corresponds to the governing vessel meridian.
7
Chin Point (CH)
Midpoint between the bottom of the lower lip and chin
This point corresponds to the central vessel meridian.
8
Collarbone (CB)
Where the collarbone, breastbone and first rib meet
This point corresponds to the kidney meridian.
9
Under Arm (UA)
About 4 finger-widths down from the armpit on the side of the body
This point corresponds to the spleen meridian.
Basic EFT Tapping Sequence
1. The Setup
Start by identifying the issue you want to address. Rate its intensity on a scale from 0-10, with 10 being the most intense.
Create a setup statement that acknowledges the problem while also accepting yourself. For example:
"Even though I feel this [emotion/pain/problem], I deeply and completely accept myself."
Tap the Karate Chop point continuously while repeating the setup statement 3 times.
2. The Sequence
After the setup, tap through each of the following points approximately 5-7 times while focusing on your issue:
- Top of Head
- Eyebrow Point
- Side of Eye
- Under Eye
- Under Nose
- Chin Point
- Collarbone Point
- Under Arm
3. Reassessment
Complete one or two rounds of tapping, then reassess the intensity of your issue. Continue tapping rounds until the intensity drops to 0 or a comfortable level.
Benefits of EFT Tapping
EFT Tapping has been reported to help with:
- Stress and anxiety reduction
- Pain management
- Fears and phobias
- Depression symptoms
- Weight loss and food cravings
- Post-traumatic symptoms
- Sleep disorders
- Performance anxiety
- Addiction and compulsive behaviors
Research suggests that EFT works by sending signals to the amygdala and other parts of the brain that process stress and emotions, potentially reducing cortisol levels and calming the nervous system.
Tips for Effective Tapping
- Be specific: While you can tap on general issues, identifying specific aspects often yields better results.
- Use your own words: The statements you use while tapping should reflect your true feelings and experiences.
- Stay focused: Maintain focus on the issue as you move from point to point.
- Persistence helps: Some issues may require multiple tapping sessions over time.
- Customize the sequence: Experienced practitioners often find they can focus on points that seem most effective for them.
- Address aspects: Complex issues often have multiple components (aspects) that should be addressed individually.
- Measure progress: Regularly rate the intensity of your issue to track improvements.
Additional Points for Advanced Users
9-Gamut Procedure
Some practitioners include the 9-Gamut procedure in their tapping sessions, which involves specific eye movements and humming while tapping on the gamut point (on the back of either hand between the knuckles of the ring finger and little finger).
Finger Points
Additional meridian points are located on the fingers (thumb, index, middle, ring, and little finger), which can be used for specialized EFT techniques or when more discreet tapping is needed in public settings.
Personal Peace Procedure
This is a systematic approach using EFT to address all bothersome memories or issues, creating a list of specific events and working through them one by one. This approach can lead to significant overall emotional well-being.
Conclusion
EFT Tapping is a simple yet powerful technique that can be learned quickly and applied to a wide range of emotional and physical issues. While results can be immediate, some people find that regular application yields the most benefits. The chart and sequence provided here offers a foundation for developing your own personal EFT practice.
EFT is considered a safe technique for most people. However, it is not meant to replace professional medical or mental health treatment. For severe emotional issues or trauma, working with a qualified EFT practitioner or healthcare provider is recommended.
