About the Department
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry (DCB) is a vibrant hub for scientific discovery, education, and innovation. Established over a century ago, DCB blends the traditions of classical chemistry with the rapidly expanding field of biochemistry, preparing graduates for careers in academia, industry, medicine, and government.
Our mission is to foster a collaborative environment where curiosity drives research, teaching is rooted in experiential learning, and community outreach expands scientific literacy. The department serves more than 1,200 undergraduate students, 350 graduate students, and hosts a faculty body of 45 distinguished scholars.
