Daily Report on Soil Embankment

Date: 2026-06-04

Project: Riverbank Reinforcement Section A

1. Overview

This daily report documents the activities, observations, and measurements performed on the soil embankment for the Riverbank Reinforcement project. The purpose is to provide engineers, supervisors, and stakeholders with accurate and timely information to support decisionmaking, ensure compliance with design specifications, and identify any issues that require immediate attention.

2. Weather Conditions

ParameterValue
Temperature (C)23
Relative Humidity (%)68
Wind Speed (km/h)12 (NE)
Precipitation0 mm
Sky ConditionsPartly cloudy

3. Work Performed

  • Excavation of 150m of topsoil to the design level.
  • Placement of 100m of compacted fill material (ClassA).
  • Installation of geotextile reinforcement (50m).
  • Compaction testing using a nuclear density gauge at 30 locations.
  • Installation of 6 drainage pipes and inspection of existing weep holes.

4. Materials Used

MaterialQuantitySupplierQuality Check
ClassA Fill100mGeoSupply Ltd.Passed (3% moisture)
Geotextile (nonwoven)50mTexCoCertified ASTM D3775
Drainage Pipe (HDPE 150mm)6pcsPipeWorksISO 4427 compliant

5. Compaction Results

The target dry density for the embankment fill is 1.85g/cm with a minimum of 95% relative compaction. The results are summarized below:

LocationDry Density (g/cm)Relative Compaction (%)
Station 11.88101.6
Station 21.8499.5
Station 31.86100.5
Station 41.8298.3
Station 51.89102.2

All readings meet or exceed the required compaction criteria.

6. Observations & Issues

  • Minor surface cracking observed near the northern edge; likely due to rapid drying. Temporary moisture spraying was applied.
  • One drainage pipe (Pipe #4) showed a slight misalignment; corrected on site.
  • No sign of settlement or lateral movement in the monitored zones.

No safety incidents were reported.

7. Photographic Record

Photos have been uploaded to the project server under DailyReports/2026-06-04/Embankment. Key images include:

  • Compaction gauge readings (Station 2 & 4).
  • Geotextile placement before backfilling.
  • Final surface finish after compaction.

8. Recommendations

  • Maintain moisture content in the surface layer for the next 24hours to avoid cracking.
  • Perform a followup compaction test after the next 2cm of fill is placed.
  • Continue daily monitoring of drainage performance, especially after the next rainfall event.
