Animal Biology Syllabus

Course Description

Animal Biology is a comprehensive exploration of the biological principles that govern animal life. This course examines the structure, function, evolution, and diversity of animals, from simple invertebrates to complex vertebrates. Students will develop an understanding of animal anatomy and physiology, evolutionary relationships, ecological roles, and behavioral adaptations. Through lectures, laboratory work, and field studies, students will gain hands-on experience in animal observation, dissection, and research methods.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand the phylogenetic relationships among major animal groups
  • Compare and contrast anatomical structures and physiological processes across animal taxa
  • Analyze adaptations that enable animals to survive and reproduce in various environments
  • Examine the evolutionary history and mechanisms that have shaped animal diversity
  • Apply scientific methods to investigate biological questions about animals
  • Evaluate the ecological roles and conservation status of various animal groups
